Associate Software Developer


Location: Phoenix, AZ.

Responsible for design, development, testing, documentation and support of custom application projects. May assist in performing on-site client work. Operates under general supervision. This is an entry level position that requires the education requirements listed below.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Refine requirements and create requirement documents when required.
  • Develop and tests projects.
  • Occasionally travels to customer site to install and test custom application.
  • Produces user documentation and help files.
  • Tracks hours related to each project and writes weekly status report.
  • Trains and supports customer in use of custom application.
  • Provides assistance and support to employees in other areas of organization when required.
  • Keeps current on voice response technology and application development techniques.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Four year degree in IT or Computer Science or equivalent learned-on-the-job skills/experience.
  • Java experience is required.
  • Experience with J2EE technologies is a requirement (servlets, JSP, application server engines, EJBs, etc).
  • Experience with .NET is a plus but not required.
  • Experience with Javascript is a plus.
  • Direct experience with voice-related technologies (ASR, IVR, VoiceXML, TTS, etc) is a strong plus.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Candidate must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good working knowledge of personal computers and Microsoft applications.
  • Candidate must work well with others in a team setting. Interpersonal communication skills, conflict resolution, and negotiating skills are valued.
  • Candidate must be able to function at all parts of the software development life-cycle; from requirements to testing.
  • Candidate should understand the fundamentals of good software design and should be aware of patterns-based approaches to design.
